Black Faith: Forsaken review

The developers had high hopes for the game, and it must be said that initially there were only two of them. The ideas were serious, and after connecting another partner, active work began. So it is worthwhile to find out if the expectations were justified?

Plot

Bleak Faith: Forsaken starts very awkwardly, either a skinny naked man or an android runs along the roof, it’s not clear. He feels insecure and there is always a risk that he will simply fall. And already here some control problems begin, even in the case of using the keyboard and mouse, it is generally impossible to play on the gamepad. But in the case of the keyboard, it should be noted that the character turns around very sharply and starts moving, which is why it is often easy to fall from any high structure.

Of course, it takes time to fully get used to it. But there is simply no time for this, because after the first enemies in a straight line, you can immediately stumble upon the boss. And here there are practically no chances, and having revived by the fire, the question arises, what is it? But as it turns out, you don’t need to immediately go ahead to the boss, you can go around it and meet more other, not so strong enemies, get decent armor and already some skills, and return.

In fact, this is a plus, since there is a non-linear structure of locations, so it is very interesting to explore them, but strong enemies also come across. And the task is complicated not only by this, but also by technical problems, along with management features.

Of course, the question arises, what about the plot? If you take other games of the soullike genre, it becomes clear that it is not necessary to understand something. And in this case, it is felt especially strongly.

Black Faith: Forsaken gameplay

Of course, over time, answers to some questions appear. Also, as you progress, other warriors and survivors appear, hiding in the catacombs. Everyone can interact and talk.

But more than the desire to still know what is happening in this world, you need to explore it. And in visual terms, it looks just great, there are also large castles or towers, but for the most part these are ruins, and infernal giants walk against their background. And in fact, there are a lot of locations:

  1. Deserts.
  2. Ruins.
  3. Locks.
  4. Sewerage.
  5. Catacombs.
  6. Abandoned city.

And it’s not over yet, there are many places to explore.

Game process

The gameplay raises some questions. Of course, you can’t fault the battles, everything looks hardcore. And you can do a roll, block an attack or parry a blow. And the save point is a fire, you can carry it with you and put it in a convenient place.

But it is important to understand that both bosses and ordinary enemies in the game use their own battle tactics, which you need to adapt to. And after the victory, the player receives a new, more powerful weapon, and for some time it will seem that all the enemies are indifferent.

In addition, each type of weapon has its own abilities that you can use. And as an addition, there are artifacts that allow you to unwind the character’s skills. And he will eventually learn new features, which simplifies the passage.

As for the minuses, here they note not only control, but also sometimes disappearing sound or light, and the overall combat system is sometimes very crooked. Although all this is compensated by high-quality graphics and musical accompaniment.
